2024 ASC Coding Tips: New 2025 ICD-10-CM Codes for ASCs to Know
New ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes went into effect on Oct. 1, 2024, for fiscal year 2025. Make sure your ASC has updated any software as needed and shared documentation improvement tips with your providers. The following are new codes ASCs should know about.
Nasal valve collapse – each location specified by unspecified, static, or dynamic:
- Internal (J34.8200 – J34.8202)
- External (J34.8210 – J34.8212)
- Unspecified (J34.829)
Fistulas – each location specified by simple or complex, and initial, persistent, recurrent, or unspecified (K60-):
- Anal (K60.3x)
- Rectal (K60.4x)
- Anorectal (K60.5x)
Other intervertebral disc degeneration – each level coded based on presence of discogenic back pain, lower extremity pain, both, or without mention of either:
- Lumbar (M51.360 - M51.369)
- Lumbosacral (M51.370 – M51.379)
Unspecified synovitis and tenosynovitis – specified by anatomical location and laterality
- M65.9x
Disruption or dehiscence operation (surgical) wound:
- Gastrointestinal tract (T81.320x)
- Abdominal wall muscle or fascia (T81.321x)
- Other specified internal operation (surgical) wound (T81.328x)
- Deep disruption (T81.329x)
Personal history of colon polyps – codes determined based on type of polyp
- Unspecified, adenomatous and serrated, hyperplastic, other (Z86.0100 – Z86.0109)
